BMW awards ZF a contract worth billions

Major contract for the struggling supplier ZF: The Friedrichshafen-based company is to further develop and supply the 8HP eight-speed automatic gearbox for BMW. The Saarbrücker Zeitung It is reported that the contract runs until the late 2030s. Whether the deal will have any impact on the planned job cuts at ZF, however, remains unclear. The agreement also shows that BMW appears to be keeping all its options open, as the gearbox can be used in both hybrid and internal combustion engine models.
